ADVANCE NOTIFICATION – 2026-2027 New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) Call for Proposals on June 2, 2026

On June 2, 2026, the Government of Canada will launch the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) 2026-2027 call for proposals (CFP) for community-based projects across Canada.
The deadline to submit applications will be July 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Organizations will have a total of 6 weeks to submit their applications. The information on the NHSP web pages will help you learn more about this funding opportunity as of June 2, 2026.

Increase in the maximum grant amount The maximum grant amount has been raised to $50,000 to enhance project impact and address inflation. A limit of $25,000 will be set for capital assistance expenditures to ensure some of the funding supports activities that benefit seniors.
Mandatory Canada Revenue Agency number A valid Canada Revenue Agency Business number is required to apply under the 2026-2027 CFP.
Change in assessment criteria Additional points will be awarded to applications from established organizations with a mandate or mission primarily focused on seniors.
GCOS is the online platform to apply The method of submission under the 2026-2027 CFP will be done through the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) portal. Applicant organizations are invited to begin registering for the online service now.

The NHSP supports projects that address the following objectives:
- Promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations;
- Engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others;
- Expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse;
- Supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and
- Providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects or programs for seniors.
Organizations wishing to apply under the NHSP-CB 2026 must submit their application electronically through the Grants and Contributions Online Services (GCOS) portal. Registration with GCOS account is a one-time process that allows organizations to securely apply for Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) funding opportunities.
