I am reaching out on behalf of Miyoskamin, a transitional housing program for Indigenous women and their children in the Greater Montreal area. We currently have 3 ½ apartments available, which can house one person.
To begin, Miyoskamin, our transitional housing program offers affordable, accessible and safe housing. We aim to create a supportive environment that fosters stability and empowerment. In addition to housing, we provide tailored resources and support services to help families transition successfully to permanent homes. By prioritizing safety and community engagement, we empower Indigenous women to thrive and build the futures they want for themselves and their children.
To be eligible for our program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must qualify for the OMHM Rent Supplement Program in order to pay rent which is equal to a maximum of 25% of your income. For 3 ½ units this means a maximum income of $40,000/year.
- The applicant must commit to working on a tailored Empowerment Plan.
- Part of this plan requires participants to enroll in educational, vocational, or training programs.
Regarding our application process, the applicant will need to complete and submit the following:
- “Need to Know: Before You Apply” – signed and completed.
- “Miyoskamin Project Plan and Application Form” – signed and completed.
- Notice of Assessment for 2024 from Revenu Quebec.
- Letter of reference – this can be from any worker, employer, teacher, etc.
